Winemaking: Aged in American oak casks in the traditional 'Canteiro' method for 15 years. This includes a gentle heating of the wine in the loft of the lodges in Funchal. Over the years the wine is transferred from the top floors intermediate floors, and eventually to the floor at ground level where it is cooler. After this gradual 'aging, the wine is clarified and filtered before being bottled.

88 points - Cossart Gordon 15 years Boal Medium Sweet
Surprisingly light in body, a result of this wine's elegantly wrought balance between acid and sugar. The aromas are fresh, almost briny, while the flavors marry honey and dried apricots without intense sweetness. Long on the finish, where it folds in nutty notes.
