Kaputt: trio of disruptive wines
Published : 10/31/2022 - Categories : Best of the year
The Kaputt brand was born “by chance”. Álvaro van Zeller, decided to make a premium white, fermented in 2008 a white from a very old vine in new oak. But the wine was too marked by the aromas of oak, and the winemaker quickly “threw it aside”.
There followed several harvests in which the wine did not reach the perfection that the winemaker wanted, and the questions kept coming up: “but then when does the premium white come?”, to which Álvaro replied "the damn wine, one more time, kapput".
But the wines were kept in the cellar, and after a spectacular 2015 harvest, Álvaro decided to put together in a single stainless steel tank percentages of wines from 2008, 2009, 2010, 2013 and 2015, which were bottled in 2016. That's how Kaputt White was born. A wine with little consensus, but which is a case of love at first sight for those who appreciate whites “out of the box”.
The wine was a success, and it was quickly followed by a Palhete and a Orange Wine. So, the Kaputt line became a line of “experiences”.
Given the success of the first editions, Álvaro van Zeller now presents us with the 2nd edition of these wines, which promise to be a success.
Unparalleled wines that are true experiences. Quantities are limited... Which one will you choose?
