12 Sauvignon Blanc white wines for a budget below €100
Published : 06/07/2019 - Categories : Our Selection
Sauvignon Blanc is probably the white variety most grown around the world and being a very versatile variety, it can produce wines with very different profiles.
You can get the new world Sauvignons from Chile or Australia and the old world wines from France, the origins of this variety.
Portugal is also producing a lot of great samples from this variety, either in blends with other native varieties such as the Alvarinho, Arinto, Verdelho or Fernão Pires, or 100% Sauvignon blancs.
It’s a variety grown from North to South and as a comparison, the ones from the North – Douro and Vinho Verde are more in line with the French ones and the ones from the South – Lisboa, Tejo and Alentejo, more in line with the new world style.
In both cases the wines present all the freshness and fruity flavors that are so typical in this variety and after a decade working on these wines, we can say that this isn’t any more experimental but part of the producers portfolio as a complement to other wines in their portfolio.
It’s wines that can compete with some of the best Sauvignon Blancs in the world and that deserve to be tasted so we selected 12 samples from North to South and you can get it for less than €100, so we are talking about wines around the €6 mark, a great price for a Sauvignon Blanc white wine.
