HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: Our selection of Clay Amphora red and white wines

Wines like any other product has also some trend influences.

And like most of the trends, it’s a cycle that sometimes it gets back to the origins.

This introduces the new trend in the wines vinification, the “talha” wines or Clay wines.

Along with the natural wines and the ones from organic farming, it shares the ancient ways of doing wines.

The Clay can be used to store the wine during the fermentation or just to store it providing another way of ageing the batches.

It’s a technic that goes back to the roman empire where the clay was used to store the wines and to transport it.

The Alentejo wine region is the one with a long history in these type of wines and producers such as the José de Sousa winery have clays dating back for many decades ago that are still being used to store most of their wines.

The selection we present includes red and white wines, all small productions so expect prices around the premium range, and all made according to the ancient roman clay technics.
