Winemaking:
Vintage Ports are made exclusively from the grapes of one harvest. Bottled after two years in casks, it is in the bottle that the long, slow, ageing process transforms the young wine into a magnificent Vintage Port. A Croft Vintage is only declared in years of optimum quality. These demanding standards mean that a Croft Vintage might be declared perhaps only two or three times in a decade.
Grape Varieties:
Tinta Roriz,Touriga Franca,Touriga Nacional
Tasting Notes:
Deep purple black. The nose combines an opulent and seductive fruitiness with an intricate kaleidoscope of complex multidimensional aroma. Pungent resin scents of eucalyptus and rock rose, notes of lychee and passion-fruit combine with exotic hints of leather, musk and cedar. The palate is round and velvety and the dense but well integrated tannins are wrapped in a cloak of succulent berry fruit flavour. The jammy fruit carries through into the finish where it is lifted by an attractive crispness and pungency.
Store and Serve Advices:
Recommended serving at a temperature of 16 to 18ºC.
Food Pairing:
This vintage can be enjoyed by itself but it goes equally well with full cheeses and chocolate or red fruit deserts. A strong cigar can also be the ideal accompaniment.
Allergens:
Contains sulphites.

94 points - Croft Vintage Port 2009
Sweet, generous blackberry and cherry fruit dominates the nose. Rich, bold palate with some fruit concentration and nice structure. Freshness and ripeness here: a lovely Port.
17,5 points - Croft Vintage Port 2009
Floral, vegetal, moist earth, truffles, coal. Especiado, balanced with robust body, firm tannins well involved, bittersweet and bitter in harmony, too long.
94 points - Croft Vintage Port 2009
The 2009 Croft has a tightly wound bouquet of blackberry, black plum, and touches of glycerine and graphite that are well-defined but persistently broody. The palate is full-bodied with a burly, powerful entry. There is real structure and presence here – a Croft packed full of spicy black fruit with white peppers generously sprinkled over the finish. This is an ambitious Croft that could become a future legend – or might trip over its untrammeled ambition!
93 points - Croft Vintage Port 2009
Based on the Roêda vineyard, this opulent, fruity wine is dense, beautifully ripe, a powerhouse of sweet fruit, figs and raisins, plum jelly and the roundest, most generous tannins. It's a wine that will show well in the next few years, but which should age magnificently.

Redolent of blackberry and dark fruits, this also features a fascinating mix of mocha, graphite and tobacco flavors. Very juicy as well, which figures into the finish of fine-grained tannins and spice. An exuberant and refined Vintage Port. Best from 2020 through 2050. 5,000 cases made.
