17,5 pts Revista de Vinhos - Deep purple in colour, almost opaque. Intense, powerful aroma of cherry and raspberry, plum and blueberries, spicy notes reminiscent of pepper and nutmeg, and touches of resin and cedar wood. It has a taut structure, excellent, firm tannins, good, balancing acidity and red-fruity, spicy flavours. The finish is long, with loads of character.

Winemaking:
Sandeman Porto Vintage Quinta do Seixo is made at the Quinta do Seixo winery from grapes from different sections of the quinta's vineyards. After gentle crushing and partial destemming, there followed very intense maceration during the period of the alcoholic fermentation. The maceration was done by treading in traditional granite lagars (shallow fermentation troughs). After the vintage, the wine remained in the Douro. It was transported to Vila Nova de Gaia during the following spring to embark upon the traditional Porto Wine ageing process in oak vats. Its development in its first two years of life was carefully monitored under the watchful eye of the oenologist. Given its character, quality and history, this wine fined and filtered. With time it will thus throw a natural deposit in bottle.

Grape Varieties:
Old Vines

Tasting Notes:
Deep purple in colour, almost opaque.

Store and Serve Advices:
Sandeman Porto Vintage Quinta do Seixo 2013 can be drunk immediately. However, it will become ever more complex if aged in bottle over a long period, reaching its peak of quality perhaps around its 15th year of life. From then on, it will continue to provide fine drinking for 20 to 25 years, after which it will still display very attractive "bottle-aged" qualities. The bottle should be sheltered from light and kept horizontally, at a constant temperature of between 16ºC-18ºC. When kept for a few years, it is natural for this wine to form a sediment in bottle. To be enjoyed at its best it should therefore be opened with care and decanted (you may be surprised to discover the extent to which this wine improves by being opened some time before drinking). Serve ideally at between 16ºC-18ºC. Once the bottle has been opened, Sandeman Porto Vintage Quinta do Seixo 2013 should be enjoyed within 2-3 days, approximately.

Food Pairing:
This elegant, complex wine is an ideal partner for cheese.

18 pts Revista de Vinhos - Touriga Nacional is the international icon of Portuguese grape varieties originating in the region where it best expresses itself, the Dão. In Taboadella it is a grape that shines on the ground and we believe we have a great example of its natural acidity in this exceptional terroir that allows us to detect the violets that populate the aroma in our memory in complementarity with the notes of altitude, the black spice and the quartzitic aroma wet granite, in surprising complexity.
