Winemaking:
Fermentation in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks; maceration by pumping over at a controlled temperature of 22oC; fortification with grape brandy after 5 days, arresting fermentation at the desired degree of dryness. Blandy’s Colheita was aged in seasoned American oak casks in the traditional ‘Canteiro’ system, whereby the wine is gently heated by warm air in the lofts of the company’s south-facing lodge in Funchal. Over the years the casks are transferred from the top floor to the middle floor and eventually to the ground floor where it is cooler. The wine is regularly racked during the ageing process and is finally bottled when the desired balance of maturity is reached.

Grape Varieties:
Malvasia

Tasting Notes:
Amber colour with golden reflections. Characteristic bouquet of dried fruit, herbal tea, caramel, with hints of vanilla and brandy. The palate is sweet, rich, soft and full bodied, with a long aftertaste and fresh with hints of vanilla and honey.

Store and Serve Advices:
As an aperitif serve at a temperature of 10ºC; as a dessert wine serve at 16ºC.

Food Pairing:
It is excellent as a digestive and goes well with desserts and cheeses.
