Caves Vale do Rodo, in Peso da Régua, is the famous producer of Porto Réccua, Cabeça de Burro and Réccua Douro and presents now two new images of table wines and port wines: ‘Godin’ and ‘Cedro’. These wines are the sum of the knowledge and dedication of their winemakers with the uniqueness of their terroirs and the know-how of their technicians and workers.
Its table wines come with the 'Godin' label, with a red wine and a white wine version. 'Godin' red wine is made from a blend of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Touriga Franca, harvested manually resulting in an excellent explosion of aromas and flavors, with firm tannins and a persistent end of mouth. The white wine version, made from the varieties Malvasia Fina, Rabigato and Fernão Pires has a shiny color combined with green tones. This blend comes with a good intensity of floral and citric aromas. In the mouth has a great provided by its acidity ending with an elegant and very long end of mouth.
The ‘Cedro’ brand presents a Ruby Port and a Tawny Port, both made from Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca and Tinta Barroca, and a White Port made from Malvasia Fina, Vital, Boal, Rabigato and Gouveio. The winemaking is the same for these three port wines: varieties harvested manually followed by the total destemming of the grapes and strong maceration with addition of brandy ending with a stage in wooden containers for several years. Complex, distinctive and fresh are the key words to characterize the aromas of these port wines. In the mouth is noted the excellent evolution as well as the elegance and the persistence of flavors.
