The Adega da Vidigueira is one of the oldest wine cellars in Portugal and was founded in 1960, thanks to the effort of most wine growers in the Alentejo region.
In the vineyards of the Adega, indigenous varieties are found, improved from generation to generation, among which the Antão Vaz variety stands out. This variety legitimized as the Vidigueira precious grape, until today, only in this sub-region that old vineyards of it can be found producing a unique wine.
The Vidigueira Grande Escolha White and Vidigueira Reserve White are examples of rarity. Made with Antão Vaz and a very rare grape variety called Perrum that is used to give a little freshness and acidity to the blend in a perfect balance between them, give rise to a structured, firm and full-bodied wines.
In the red wines profile there is the Vidigueira Grande Escolha Red that brings a very fine blend made with Trincadeira and Alicante Bouschet that aged for 12 months in French and American oak barrels. It shows an intense garnet color, full of complexity with notes of compote fruit. The flavor is full-bodied, with the wood and fruit in full harmony in a long and persistent finish, slightly spicy.
Along with it, you can also find a monovarietal made with Syrah under the name Vidigueira Reserve Red. A red wine full of charm from the deep garnet color to the ripe black fruit aroma with a balsamic touch. Revealing in the mouth an extremely full-bodied wine, with fruit and wood in perfect harmony, ending long and very persistent.
To compose the range there is the Vidigueira Vinho da Talha White 2018, that remembers the ancestors’ way of making wine, focusing on using grapes that come from only 6ha of old vines, some of which are almost extinct. These centennial vineyards produce a more dense, concentrated and very complex bunches in aromas and flavors, which is why the carved wines obtained from these grapes are unique, intense and full of personality.
