Quinta do Couquinho has about 70 hectares, 60 of which are under cultivation. The vineyard and olive grove occupy most of the cultivated land, the rest being filled with almond, orange, fig, apple and other fruit trees. Located in the Upper Douro part of the Douro Demarcated Region, the fifth border the Alto Douro Wine Region declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2001. The Quinta do Couquinho vineyard is planted on undulating ground on terraces known as terraces. All traditional Douro, Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Barroca varieties are represented in the vineyard. The wine is produced in the farm's cellar and stored in French oak barrels for later bottling. The annual production of the farm is approximately 100,000 liters of wine (something more than 130,000 bottles) and 15,000 liters of olive oil. Wine is given different classifications, Harvest, Reserve or Great Reserve by the IVDP, Douro Wine Institute and Porto, depending on the harvest, varieties used and aging process.
