The Gin movement in Portugal started about 5 years ago when this beverage was the trend in most of the cocktail bars.
With that, some independent companies started to create their craft gin based on the botanicals from the region where they were based.
Nowadays you can find some dozen of different Gin brands and styles from North to South of Portugal up to the Azores island.
It’s a fact that this is a very English drink but for those who want to try "out of the box" styles, probably the Portuguese ones are a very good option.
From Azores you have the flavored gins from Goshawk (mandarin, passion fruit and pineapple), or the classic style Azor and Rocha Negra.
The famous oranges from Algarve can be found in the Newhall Gin or the Alentejo Pêra Rocha can be found in the Sharish Gin.
The Quinta de Ventozelo in Douro, famous for their wines and port wines have also available the Gin produced in their estate.

As a resume, we can say that the Gin movement is growing a lot in terms of offer and thanks to the special ingredients used to create a unique and differential style.
