In the 19th century, Ponciano de Abreu's parents began to produce Alvarinho wine on their estates located in Melgaço. Ponciano de Abreu was one of the pioneers in the production of Alvarinho, already framed by the legislation of the recent demarcated Vinho Verde region.
The exceptional soil conditions, climate and sun exposure reflected on the quality of the wine, which began to gain fame in the region. The wine, obtained by the most modern winemaking technologies, is fresh, balsamic and very expressive in the mouth, where it appears powerful, with firm acidity and a persistent finish, with some sweetness.
The 'Dom Ponciano Alvarinho Selected Harvest' participated in the ‘Os Melhores Verdes 2019’ contest where it won the 'Best Of Vinhos Verde' and a gold medal. Its a wine made from the best grapes of the 2013 harvest. It was refined and aged in stainless steel vats with an unusual softness. A wine that must be served fresh and ideal for fish and seafood lovers.
The ‘Dom Ponciano Alvarinho Natural Brut Sparkling’ staged 2 years in bottle at controlled temperature and 2 years in bottle after the ‘degorgement’ process. It has a citrus yellow color with a thin and persistent bubble. Good balance between acidity and alcohol, where the characteristic aroma of Alvarinho variety persists.
