Quinta do Noval and Quinta da Romaneira – two port wines together in a vintage declaration
Publicado : 2019-08-20 - Categorias : House of Port
In a vintage declaration year, Quinta do Noval and Quinta da Romaneira were not left out. These two properties presented their Vintage Port wines from 2017 together. Quinta do Noval extends over 145 hectares, with the classic Douro red grape varieties and Quinta da Romaneira has 86 hectares of vineyards, sharing some red varieties but also with a small portion of white grapes.
These two companies have a very close relationship. Christian Seeley acquired Quinta do Noval in 1993 and in 2004 brought together a group of researchers to buy Quinta da Romaneira. Seeley, managing the two farms of different owners, generated great synergy and resource sharing, with António Agrellos at his side as technical director of oenology at Noval and consultant at Romaneira.
The ‘Quinta da Romaneira Vintage Port 2017’ is clean, elegant and pleasant. In the mouth shows a medium acidity combined with fine tannins leading to a dry, long and of great persistence end of mouth.
In other hand, the ‘Quinta do Noval Vintage Port 2017’ is characterized by its purity of fruit and a fine and delicate quality that is typical of the wines of the property in general, but finds its most remarkable and lasting expression in Vintage Ports.
Balance, harmony, finesse and elegance are the hallmarks of these great Vintage Port wines, which are declared only when the producers believe that the year has produced a blend worthy of the Quinta do Noval and Quinta da Romaneira label.
