The Best Buys in Port Wine category is now available
Publié : 17/12/2015 - Catégories : Best of the year
Today is time to release the list of Best Buys from one of the most important categories in our store and also in the Portuguese wine scene, the Port wine.
We are very strong in terms of this category with an offer of more than two thousand products with hundreds of Vintage and Colheita ports.
We can risk to say that Portugal Vineyards has the biggest offer in Port wines and in 2015 we proudly sent orders to almost all the countries around the globe.
The list of Best Buys is based on the most ordered wines during the year so it’s normal that it’s dominated by the young ports (Tawny, Ruby and White) but there is also two LBVs, a sign that our members are not only deciding their purchases based on the price but mainly in the relationship between this, the quality of the product and probably one of the key factors, the brand.
Talking about brands, we find the three types of young ports from Offley and Ferreira in our top twelve.
If Sogrape has two brands in the top, also Real Companhia Velha has the Ruby and Tawny present with the Royal Oporto brand, alongside with the Dow’s brand from Symington.
Finally in the end of our list there is two LBVs, the Messias and the Niepoort. If our ranking had more than twelve wines, you would find in there some aged tawnies, mainly the 10 years, some rosés port wines and also the Niepoort and Messias young ports.
The conclusion isn’t very different from the Best Buys in the other wine categories, people want good wines, from producer with a big brand awareness and mostly an affordable price – The value for money is what drives most of the buying decisions. This doesn’t mean that all the other wines from higher price ranges don’t sell. Most of the super-premium wines run out of stock a few months after reaching the market, so there is a room for every type of wine, every producers and every price ranges.
