Rosé wines are ideal to be drunk fresh with a good meal or simply with appetizers on a hot summer evening. With this in mind, today we bring the perfect rosé wines from different regions of Portugal that will surprise your palate and at a price range from 5€ to 15€.
The highlight goes to the Azores 'Rosé Vulcânico', a wine of volcanic origin from poor and stony soils. In the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, at the base of the largest mountain in Portugal and where nothing else could grow, the grapes of this rosé originated an amazing wine, well structured, saline but fresh with salts persisting in the mouth and prick the palate. The Alentejo brings us a wine of terroir, with a select and differentiated profile, obtained from very noble Portuguese grape varieties, the 'Rosa de Argilla Rosé' boils down to a 100% Alicante Bouschet wine very gastronomic, with forest aromas together with red and wild fruits that are completed by a good structure and fresh acidity in the mouth.
Another unique wine is the 'Soalheiro Mineral Rosé', a blend of the White Alvarinho with the Red Pinot Noir, where the Alvarinho gives the intense and fresh character to the wine and the Pinot Noir the more aromatic and elegant profile.
The Touriga Nacional is one of the varieties that produces the best dry rosé wine and these two wines are proof of the quality of this variety. The 'Página Rosé', from Lisbon, is a 100% Touriga Nacional with a mineral and fruity profile, a great impact and volume in the mouth. The 'Quinta dos Carvalhais Colheita Rosé' from Dão, a winer combination of Touriga Nacional and Alfrocheiro, harvested and vinified separately to maintain the freshness and acidity of the grapes, resulting in a wine with elegant aromas and a crispy acidity typical of the region that gives freshness to the wine making it refined and complex.
