Just putting together my next order and trying a few new wines in order to add to my favourites list. Fantastic selection and brilliant value for money. Wish I'd found Portugal Vineyards years ago.

Harvest begins towards the middle of September each year as pickers work the terraces to harvest the fully ripened grapes. Tha wine matures in casks or in larger wooden vats. The cool ambient temperature of the cellars and its location near the coast is ideal for the lengthy maturation of Port. Port from a single exceptional harvest may be declared as a "Vintage". Bottled after spending between two to three years in wood, the wine continues to m ature in bottle until it is ready to drink In some cases, this may take two decades or more.

17 points - Barão de Vilar Vintage Port 2007

Chemical notes, some cocoa and spicy, black fruit mature, with median body full, thick tannin and very ripe, vigorous and filled in with very hard and long end especiado. A Vintage with good character and future.

90 points - Barão de Vilar Vintage Port 2007

The 2007 Barao de Vilar displays an enticing bouquet of coffee bean, bitter chocolate, blueberry, blackberry, and violets. On the palate it displays a precocious personality with succulent blue and black fruit flavors, a bit of underlying structure, and potential complexity. This charming effort will blossom with several more years of bottle age and offer pleasure from 2015 to 2025.

86 points - Barão de Vilar Vintage Port 2007

Very fresh, juicy, sweet fruited wine, underpinned by velvet tannins. It is attractive, approachable, only just hinting at weight and structure.
