Winemaking:
It represents two percent of a year's total Port production, only the first quality grapes are used (A and B). Presenting outstanding organoleptic characteristics, they must be very full bodied and deep in color. Vintage ports are aged for a maximum of two and a half years before bottling, and generally require a minimum of three to four years before serving and another ten to thirty years in average of aging in the bottle, before reaching what is considered a proper drinking age.

89 points - Dalva Vintage Port 2011

The 2011 Dalva has a slightly disjointed nose where the spirit, in similar fashion to the Gran Cruz, feels conspicuous compared to its peers. The palate is actually better, the spirit here exhibiting finer integration and the tannins finer than the nose suggests. There are touches of gingerbread and allspice towards the finish, which displays moderate length and class. This might show better in three or four years.
