A tribute to Fernando Soares Franco produced from his favourite red grape varieties: Syrah, Trincadeira and Tannat. In 1998, José Maria da Fonseca produced the first vintage of Garrafeira FSF. Then followed 2001, 2004 and now the 2005 vintage, very elegant, fruity red wine with a good fruit acidity. This confirms the true tribute to Fernando Soares Franco, father of Antonio and Domingos Soares Franco, the owners of José Maria da Fonseca. Produced from the grape varieties of Syrah, Trincadeira and Tannat, the favourite red grape varieties of Fernando Soares Franco, FSF is a super-premium wine with a very modern style. VINIFICATION The grapes are foot trodden in open top “lagares” and fermented with full skin contact at temperatures of 28ºC during 6 days. Before the alcoholic fermentation is finished the wine is transferred into casks. “Bâtonnage” is done during 3 months. After the first raking the wine returns to the same casks. The wine is unfiltered. It may throw sediment. Ageing in new French oak casks for 12 months.
