Casa Ermelinda Freitas has been dedicated to wine production since 1920, in the Setúbal region, where all grape production is located, in a privileged location called Palmela.
Over the years, with many challenges, it has consolidated itself in the wine business and today it already owns 550ha of vineyards, with an average of 30 different grape varieties being worked, with national references, such as, for example, Castelão, Fernão Pires and Viosinho, and internationals like Carmenere, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Noir and Merlot.
With their ranges known all over the world, Casa Ermelinda has launched a range of quality monovarietal, where they explore what the terroir can transmit in contact with each international grape variety chosen for its wines, starting with Dona Ermelinda Gewurztraminer White 2018. A peculiar grape from Germany, with predominance of citrus aromas and flavors. In the Setúbal terroir, it receives influences from the hot climate, where the grapes ripen easily, giving life to a light wine, with an intense aroma with floral notes reminiscent of lychees and roses, transmitting all the richness of flavors, in addition to the elegance at the end delicate, refreshing and creamy.
Another very special wine is Dona Ermelinda Pinot Noir Reserve Red 2017, which brings the French grape variety recognized among producers as a difficult grape to succeed, as it requires a lot of attention. Despite this, it produces passionate wines, which would be no different for Casa Ermelinda. After aging for 12 months in French and American oak barrels, the result was a wine with an aroma of ripe fruit and a typical sweetness of the grape variety. In addition, the great integration with wood surprises, revealing a round and full wine with a rich, persistent and elegant finish.
To compose this range of special wines, there is also Dona Ermelinda Carmenere Reserve Red 2017 and Dona Ermelinda Pinot Noir Merlot Rosé 2019, each with its unique and innovative character in an incredible work done by the producer.
The wines from the Setúbal are an invitation to the five senses, due to the richness of their terroir and what can be done there, showing the true essence with elegance and prestige for the region.
