Published : 03/31/2021 - Categories : Taste Room
The craft brewery Barona was founded in 2015 by three partners who used the first letters of their nicknames to form the brand name (Barrigas, Roque, Nabo). The experience in the production of craft beer together with the desire to take his inventions to the world, promoted the next step, professionalizing the business and creating a brewery with facilities in Marvão, in the heart of Alto Alentejo.
Awards such as Portugal Best American Pale Ale at the World Beer Awards 2019 with the Barona APA and the Gold Medal at the Barcelona Beer Challenge 2019 with the Barona IPA, are more than a proof of quality, but also the recognition of a work and dedication developed by them since the beginning.
Worthy of the prizes won, the Barona American Pale Ale brings a straw-colored hue with white foam, with a slight bitterness, where the aromas and flavors of tropical fruits, from the hops overlap the malt in a perfect balance.
Another profile brought is the Barona Entruda Sour Ale, which brings the wealth of tropical flavors from American hops that combine perfectly with its acidity and surprise in the freshness.
With profiles for all tastes, you can also find the American Porter, Blonde Ale styles, as well as special editions like Barona Castanha Brown Ale. A chestnut beer minimally thought out, so that they put a little more of the region in a bottle. Thus, the chestnuts of Marvão DOP were selected to make a smoked Brown Ale with notes of chestnut and fennel, ending with a caramel taste.
Responsibly, Barona beers aligned with the demands of consumers, who stalk the brewing world beyond the industrial world, occupying the position of one of the best craft beers in the country and arrive to contribute to the culture of quality Portuguese craft beer and that surprise at each tasting.
