Best of the year: Medium price range red wines - €5 to €10

Best of the year: Medium price range red wines - €5 to €10

We start 2019 with the best from last year, something we have been doing for the past couple of years.

Like before, this is the selection from our members according to their buying preferences. It’s not the best wines according to the wine reviewers or even a selection made between our team.

So you should consider each list has the 12 bestselling wines under each specific category. We will be presenting during the next days the best of the year for red wines, white wines, rosé wines, port wines and a final list for dessert wines, that should include all fortifies wines except Ports.

This year we removed some categories such as the wines under €5 since the buying decision most of the time is based on the price of the wine and not on the quality.

Also some type of wine such as the Ports or Madeiras that have a lot of sub-categories we tried to keep it simple and one list for Ports and other for dessert wines should be enough.

We start with our members selection in red wines under the medium price range, usually from €5 to €10 euros, retail price. We can see half of the selection being Douro and Alentejo wines, but unlike the previous years, the importance of these 2 wine regions decreased and our members are now picking wines under other regions such as Dão, Lisboa, Setúbal, Bairrada and Tejo. And it seems they are enjoying the wines because the ones we present here are selling more than most of the red wines from Douro and Alentejo. Tomorrow we will have the same list but for white wines.
