Legado Red 2018
19 pts Revista de Vinhos - Deep ruby red in colour. Its aroma is beautifully balanced and complex, dominated by notes of asparagus, artichokes and hillside shrubs, along with aromas of super-ripe black fruits and dried figs, intermingled with touches of spice, striking minerality and notes of fine, well-integrated oak. Good acidity is immediately apparent on the palate, giving the wine remarkable freshness, along with high quality, silky tannins. The finish is extremely long, complex and well balanced. This a truly harmonious wine of great character.

Winemaking:
Legado was made in the best equipment at the Quinta da Leda winery, enjoying the latest technology. After gentle destemming and crushing, the grapes were transferred to stainless steel tanks and/or lagares equipped with robotic plunging, where the maceration and alcoholic fermentation took place. The wine then underwent a further long, slow maceration to achieve greater aromatic and phenolic extraction. Finally, and at the right moment for each grape variety/batch, the wine was run off and the remaining solids were pressed. The press wine was kept separate from the free-run wine. The wine was then taken to Vila Nova de Gaia, where, after the malolactic fermentation, it was aged for around 2 years in new French oak barrels. It was bottled without any kind of treatment.
