The history of the cooperative winery begins in the late 1940s, when the national movement of associations between winegrowers begins. This associativity was personified by cooperative wineries that in this way tried to escape the dependence on wine merchants.
In the Alcobaça area, the vineyard had great weight in the local economy and in 1956, a group of small and medium wine growers decided to create the Adega Cooperativa de Alcobaça, which started by being based in the warehouses of the National Wine Board, where today the National Wine Museum. This solution lasted until 1976, when the winemaking area was changed to land adjacent to the original. Adega Cooperativa was finally moved in 1993, after the National Wine Board was acquired, where the administrative area and warehouses were built.
