Present in the Douro Valley for more than 130 years the Symington Family Estates has a deep commitment to the region and people. Vintage Ports are only made in years of exceptionally high quality harvests, which on average occur two or three times in a decade but the producers surprised again by announcing, after 2016, their first consecutive vintage declaration. The family equales 2017 to 1945, the year of the "first postwar Vintage".
From Quinta do Vesúvio, one of the few estates in Douro where all of the wines are made using the traditional treading method in granit lagares and both with 99 points in Roberts Parker, the ‘ Quinta do Vesúvio Vintage Port 2017’ is all about concentration, intensity and structure. A powerful and tense, well muscled wine that holds our attention well.
In the space of ten years, from 2007 to 2017, only four ‘Capela do Vesúvio Vintage Ports’ were produced, all coinciding with classic Vintage declarations, the 2017 vintage has mesmerizing aromas. In the mouth, the concentration and intensity are amazing, with multiple layers of complexity. The seductive aftertaste seems endless. An inspiring monumental wine.
The ‘Graham’s The Stone Terraces Vintage Port 2017’, also with 99 points in Robert Parker, come from a little parcel of the ‘Stone Terrace’ vineyard. It is a small production but with a very high quality. With a elegant appearance, this vintage port has sumptuous aromas combined with orange blossom and tropical notes. In the mouth is very concentrated and seductive leading to a seductive end of mouth and full of life.
