The tradition of Honrado Talha wines in Alentejo
Published : 11/10/2020 - Categories : Our Selection
The cultivation of vineyards in the Alentejo has existed for over two thousand years when the first varieties were planted by the Romans, who spread their culture around the world with their talha wines, a tradition that is taken with great pride by Honrado and that transforms its grapes into true nectars that refer to the past.
The production of Honrado Talha wines is the result of a family project between father and son with a range of skills that are very different from each other, but complement in every way and convey the humility and pride of their origins, despite having a rejuvenated and differentiated image, presents as a principle the respect for the history, culture, and tradition of the Alentejo.
Produced by hand using the ancient technique of fermenting grapes in clay pots, the Honrado wine range consists of 4 references, two white and two reds, which carry in their bottles the portrait of the Roman ruins where they found the most old traces of wine production in clay pots in the region.
One of its wines from the Premium range is the Honrado Talha Premium Red 2018, made from the grape varieties Tinta Grossa, Aragonêz, Trincadeira and Alfrocheiro, that resulted in an intense aroma wine with black fruit compote, with slight notes of spices. This exemplary brings a medium high body, with subtle astringency, with a long and persistent finish due to the tannins and minerality conferred by the region.
In addition to this, the version Honrado Talha Premium White 2018 brings the Antão Vaz, Arinto, along with the almost extinct Perrum and Laureão grape varieties that give an even more unique touch to the wine. Revealing aromas of orange peel with citrus and mineral notes, with a great finish due to the structured and persistent body that leaves a fresh feeling in the mouth surprising those who try it.
Located in the heart of the Alentejo, the Honrado keeps the tradition alive by contributing to the place where until today it is recognized as the Capital of Talha Wine and that we invite you today to know more about these new references in our store.
