NEW IN STORE: The Alves de Sousa Abandonado red 2015

The Abandonado wine born in one of the oldest vineyards in the Alves de Sousa family. Forgotten at the top of the Quinta da Gaivosa, with a number of native grape varieties and almost more rocks than vines lies the Abandonado vineyard.

It’s one of the rare wines from Douro, produced in very small quantities due to the low yield of the vineyards and it stages for 18 months in new French oak and then more 12 months, minimum period in the bottle before it reaches the market.

It’s one of those wines that represents the true identity of the Douro valley: the old vineyards, the field blend of grape varieties, the traditional vinification process and in the end, a wine that shows all its potential now but that can last for decades in bottle, growing and presenting new features along the years.

We have now in store the new vintage from this exquisite wine, the 2015, and you can have it in normal size bottle or magnum bottle. Also you can still get in our store the 2013 vintage year.
