The sparkling wines are very consistent in terms of quality, the Portuguese sparkling wines are produced according to the classic method so it means that you can find an equivalent to the French champagne at a lower price. Today we introduce a selection of eight highly recommended sparkling wines all new in our store.
The Bairrada Region is renowned for the quality of its sparkling wines. The combination with the typical local gastronomy generates numerous fans. From this region stands out the ‘Grande Aplauso Brut Sparkling’ which, despite its yellow-green color, is made from a blend of a red and a white variety: the Baga and the Chardonnay. It shows a good structure in the mouth, balanced and with a fine mousse combined with a thin and persistent bubble in a long and creamy end of mouth.
Another option is the ‘Primavera Grand Reserve’, a 100% Touriga Nacional wine at a retail price of €8,65. It’s a wine very delicate in the aromas but also with a very creamy and invigorating mousse. Full bodied, together with a good acidity that leads to a end of the mouth full of freshness and elegance.
From the Lisboa region, the ‘Berbereta Brut Natural Sparkling’ made from Arinto and Chardonnay. Already tasted in Robert Parker with 92 points and with a retail price of €20.05, it shows an Atlantic profile, very mineral and fresh. With a great volume in the mouth combined with an elegant bubble that results in an intense and refreshing end of mouth.
