Check our selection on Alvarinho White Wines to drink in the hot Summer days
Published : 06/15/2015 - Categories : Our Selection
The today's theme in our twelve wines offer is the Alvarinho grape and the great wines that are made in the Vinho Verde wine region.
The hot days will ask for a cold white wine and the Alvarinho wines are ideal to pair with fresh fish and seafood, the perfect dishes in this time of the year.
The Alvarinho grape variety is unique due to the low incomes harvested and the conditions it needs to grow. The Galicia in the northwest of Spain, Monção and Melgaço in the northwest of Portugal are the home for this grape variety due to the soil and weather conditions that Alvarinho vineyards needs.
Alvarinho grapes are noted for its distinctive aroma, very similar to the Viognier, Gewurztraminer, and Petit Manseng, suggesting apricot and peach.
The wine produced is unusually light, and generally high in acidity with alcohol levels of 11.5–12.5%.
In our offer we picked 12 wines from our recommended area. You will find the great Alvarinhos from Anselmo Mendes, the "Mr. Alvarinho" and also the Alvarinho wines from some of the best estates from the Vinho Verde wine region such as the Quinta de Gomariz, Quinta da Aveleda, Quinta de Santa Eulália and Quinta da Pedra.
Enjoy our offer and prepare your cellar for the hot days.
