BEST OF 2017: Our members selection for Best Buys in red wines

A new year is beginning with big expectations on the new vintages and new arrivals but it’s also time to look at 2017 and find out what were the best wines according to our members.
The Portugal Vineyards community is growing each year, which means that the most wanted wines in each category should be considered as some of the best in the market.
Off course that the price, availability, reviews and promotions can influence this selection but if many of our members are searching and repeatedly buying a specific wine it’s because that wine is a winner in that category.
These short lists of wines are based just on the metrics of our store, it’s not our personnal choice, or any wine critics choice. Bottom line, these are the wines that most of our members drink along the year. We start with the most popular category, the best buys. It’s all wines in the medium range price, up to 6 euros where the quality you get is far high than the retail price you pay.
Douro was the most representative wine region with half of the selection, followed by Alentejo with three wines. But the three wines from other wine regions are probably the most importart wines because they share also our short list of best selling wines, the Quinta da Cabriz and Catredral Reserve in Dão and the Vidigal Porta 6 in Lisboa, it's wines that even the most demanding wine enthusiast should try once.

Check our members' choice for the best buy red wines and probably you will find in here a great wine for this new year.

Black and juicy, the fruit of this wine is surrounded by schist tannins, creating a hard-edged feel to the fruit and a smoky char in the finish.

91 pts Robert Parker - Bright ruby colour with black pepper notes combined with red berries fruit aromas. It has plenty of plums and cherries notes and a strong mineral character of wet stone aroma. Very rich and complex. The palate is firm with great acidity and a great tannic structure supported by well balanced tannins. Very long and persistent, promising a long life in bottle.
