Aged White Ports, the new trend
Published : 01/18/2023 - Categories : House of Port
It is probably the most famous Portuguese wine in the entire world, and there is no one who doesn't know Tawny or Ruby Ports. However, in recent years there has been a growing demand for Aged White Ports! And believe us, it will surprise you!
The production process is exactly the same as for a Tawny: fortification, aging in used French oak barrels, and producing a blend with an average age of 10, 20, 30 or 40 years or producing a Single Harvest.
These wines are more or less golden in color (which gets more intense over the years). Aromas of dried fruits, candied orange, honey and spices, with a fresher and more elegant flavor than Tawnys of the same age.
To drink slightly fresh, with starters based on mild cheeses, with dried fruit or candied fruit desserts, or simply to rest and enjoy, without any accompaniment.
If you still don't know this category of Porto, follow our advice! You won't regret it...
