It was the passion for the Douro and the Vilariça valley that brought the current owner of Quinta da Terrincha to her origins. Dynamic, she recovered the Quinta's vacant areas and turned it into a reference for tourism in the region. She also increased exponentially the agricultural investment, which went from 45 hectares of vineyards to double. There are 100 hectares of olive groves (mostly centenary) from which the Quinta's high quality biological olive oil comes out.
The Quinta is very rich in history, it is thought that it knew its beginnings even before the formation of Portugal. It is believed that it met all the conditions to be considered as Villae Romana, as it shows traces of Romanization. It will also have passed through Muslim hands, as a farm.
After the formation of Portugal, Quinta da Terrincha was an agricultural territorial unit administered by the King, remaining in the possession of D.Sancho I until the 15th century.
At the end of the 20th century, Quinta da Terrincha was in a state of degradation due to its abandonment, at this time, the Seixas Pinto family, current owner, acquired Quinta da Terrincha and, since then, there has been a strong investment aimed at the modernization of the property. Currently, considered as one of the most valuable Quintas in the region and country, it takes advantage of all its surroundings and potential, from the fertility of the Vilariça valley to the calm and relaxing environment, to develop the areas in which it is currently linked: Rural Tourism, Viniculture, Olive Oil Production, Cheese Production, among other agricultural productions that allow the farm to be self-sustainable.
